Ka§par (4 Lux / Clone / Groovement)

Spelling Ka§par on the internet is not easy... links don't work, tagging breaks down and people get confused, but the "§" is important, for only this way you know there is only one and this is it.

Ka§par started his working life in 1998, at the age of 15 dj’ing in shady bars in the suburbs of Lisbon, but would quickly escalate to some of the city’s finest clubs, accepted by more experienced jocks as a budding talent. He became resident DJ of the legendary gay club “Frágil” in Bairro Alto (a position he maintained until the club’s demise in 2013, aged 28), and this led him to perform regularly in european top club Lux-Frágil on a regular basis. He is the cultural product of the bubbling Bairro Alto scene of the late 90’s to mid 2010’s, where great dj’s and record were heard mostly anywhere in that neighbourhood. Over the course of more than two decades, the precocious youth would develop his DJ skills in different genres and crowds, spinning all over Portugal and abroad but also to build a solid career as a studio head and music producer.

In 2005, his music creation skills granted him a spot on the much missed Red Bull Music Academy (in Seattle) class where he furthered his contacts and resolve. He was a founding force behind many music labels, and a head producer and studio manager for Big Bit / Portland studios, and is now teaching music production classes at Pioneer sponsored i4DJ school in Lisbon. His music has been released in many labels: from the dutch 4Lux, Clone, Tomorrow Is Now, Kid!, to the german Rawax, Midnight Shift, In The Dark Again, Snuff Traxx, to the Chicago based legendary Stripped & Chewed label, amongst many others. His uncompromising style features a very personal and futuristic blend of techno, house and boogie under a high tech setting, that incorporates elements of funk, dub, jazz and hip hop.

He currently curates and manages Percebes Música (his own music label), where he releases local talent on vinyl and hosts a weekly DJ mix for FM station Rádio Oxigénio in Lisbon, called Desvio Padrão… and is still rocking crowds and dance floors all over Portugal and beyond on a regular basis, spinning records and files wherever the Party needs him.
